Energise Recovery
Online recovery courses for individuals with injuries and long-term health conditions
Energise Recovery online courses enhance individuals’ recovery, wellbeing and resilience following injury or diagnosis of a long-term health condition.
At Energise Health, we think of recovery as a process of change through which individuals improve their health and wellness and are empowered to reach their full potential despite the limitations posed by injuries or health conditions. To us, recovery is about more than “getting better” - it is about “living as well as possible”. It is about individuals living with hope, focussing on what is possible and learning how to live meaningful and satisfying lives, independent of their symptoms or disability.
“Energising” recovery through self-management
Energise Recovery Programmes support individuals on their recovery journey by introducing them to simple strategies which they can use to help self-manage the physical and psychological symptoms related to their injuries or health condition - such as pain, anxiety, depression, poor sleep and fatigue. All the strategies taught on the courses are scientifically-proven.
There is substantial evidence that individuals who utilise self-management strategies:
Experience fewer symptoms and need fewer health-related appointments
Benefit from improved health outcomes
Report higher levels of wellbeing and motivation
Engage in healthy behaviours such as eating well and exercising, and
Are more likely to return to or remain in work
Energise Recovery Programmes empower Participants to take control of their recovery journey, be hopeful for the future and “live as well as possible”.
Our courses
There are two Energise Recovery courses which follow the same content and format, but cater for Participants at different stages in their recovery journey:
Energise Recovery is designed for Participants who are 6 weeks to 6 months post injury or diagnosis.
Energise Recovery 4Life is designed for Participants who are 6 months or more years post injury or diagnosis (no upper limit).
The courses are facilitated by highly experienced health professionals and are delivered online in small groups over a period of 6 weeks. They equip Participants to design their own personalised ‘Energise Recovery Toolkit’ and support them to integrate their chosen strategies into their daily life for maximum and sustained benefit.
Participants typically finish the course with 25 self-management strategies in their Energise Recovery Toolkit*
(*This is an average figure based on Energise Health’s internal audit results published in December 2021. How Energise Recovery can help you
Energise Recovery courses can benefit individuals at any stage following injury or diagnosis of a long-term health condition. This includes before and after surgery or in conjunction with other rehabilitation or treatments. They also suit individuals who are not receiving any medical intervention.
Participants discover how the body and mind respond to injury or the diagnosis of a long-term health condition and learn simple, scientifically-proven strategies to manage the physical and psychological symptoms that typically arise, such as:
• Acute and chronic pain
• Fatigue and lack of energy
• Anxiety, depression and stress
• Poor sleep
• Unhealthy eating habits
• Reduced physical activity, and
• Loss of previously valued activities at home, work and leisure.
The strategies are all practical, easy to learn and involve little to no cost or equipment. They are safe to use either on their own or in conjunction with other medical input or therapies and can be implemented from the very first session!
By the end of the Programme, Participants will have their own Energise Recovery Toolkit of personalised self-management strategies along with a comprehensive Programme Handbook which contains helpful summaries of all the information covered in the course.
Please note: Energise Recovery and Energise Recovery 4Life are health education courses, not a form of treatment or therapy. Our Facilitators will therefore not be able to provide Participants with advice or recommendations regarding their specific health care needs.
